Sharpen Everything
With all this talk about career accomplishments, I think it’s important to ask: What are you doing for you?
We spend so much of our lives working (or looking for work) that it becomes the main focus but at what cost? What about your health?
I’m fortunate. I work from home, and my gym setup is about two feet from my desk. (The heavy bag is a solid mid-meeting stress reliever.) But you don’t need a rack of weights or an elliptical next to your desk to start sharpening yourself.
Equipment is expensive. Somehow, used weights cost as much as new ones. But movement is free.
Calisthenics. A set of pushups. A walk around the block. Hell, take a lap around the office. Just move. Got an extra $30? Grab some resistance bands and get a little strength work in. Only have 15 minutes a day? Perfect. Use it to invest in you. Pop on a YouTube workout and follow along.
We talk a lot about sharpening the mind strategy, structure, leadership under pressure. But the body? That’s the system that carries it all. If it breaks down, everything else starts to wobble.
You don’t have to train like a Navy SEAL. You just have to train.
Because discipline doesn’t live in a spreadsheet. It lives in your habits. And the more pressure you carry in your day job, the more important it is to build a body that can carry it too.
Mind sharp. Body sharper.
Have fun with it. You will thank you and so will those that care about you.
