From Groundbreaking to Go-Live: Building a Logistics Hub from the Dirt Up

Challenge:
A national distributor needed a new regional logistics hub built from scratch. The facility would serve as a critical piece of their supply chain infrastructure, and the project required coordination across construction, systems integration, and warehouse operations. The timeline was tight, the complexity high, and the goal was simple: deliver a fully operational facility ready for live inventory and outbound flow.

What I Did:
I oversaw the project from the literal ground up. From initial site preparation through structural construction, I coordinated with contractors, engineers, and vendors to ensure every piece of the build stayed on track.

Once the building was standing, I led the installation of the conveyor system, racking layout, material handling infrastructure, and equipment outfitting. Everything from dock levelers to wireless scanners passed through my oversight. I also helped define workflows, load zones, and internal logistics paths to ensure the building wouldn’t just stand — it would run.

This wasn’t just project management. It was systems thinking, construction oversight, vendor coordination, and operational setup — all rolled into one.

Results:

  • Delivered a fully functional logistics hub on time and ready for go-live

  • Integrated conveyor, racking, and warehouse equipment systems from multiple vendors

  • Oversaw facility buildout without major delays or redesigns

  • Laid the groundwork for a facility still in use today as a high-volume distribution center
